I'm Making Plans!

I'm less than a week away from going abroad! I just wrote a letter to my uncle with all the adventures I'm up to, and I feel I should share with everyone just because a lot of people are asking.
September 12th to the 14th:
I will be heading to the island Andros with fellow CYA students! I don't know much about the island but it looks beautiful like every other island in Greece! What's nice is that the professors are going to be joining us also and they are going to bring us to museums, monuments, beaches, tourist spots, and local hangouts!

September 17th to the 21st:
I am going to be in Crete! I've studied a lot of historical art and architecture there, as well as myths and I am very excited to visit! I plan to dance like Zorba while I'm there! I'm hoping we're going to hit up the palace at Knossos, because if not I'll have to sneak away and venture there! A lot of you may notice this famous piece of art from there! This is also a CYA sponsored trip so it'll be an adventure!

September 26th to the 28th:
Guten tag! I'm jumping on board a plane and flying over to Germany to celebrate Oktoberfest! A few girls from the program extended an invitation to join them in Germany and of course I jumped on that right away. I cannot wait! I have a friend who lives in Bayreuth so I'm hoping he can get a train ticket down and come and visit me. He and I met in 2010 and have kept in touch, but, since he's in Germany and I'm here, we haven't seen each other yet. Fingers crossed!

October 3rd to the 5th:
It's an open weekend! So I'm thinking Santorini, Mykonos, Thessaloniki, or other various islands. It really depends on who wants to join me and where our bucket lists match up.

October 10th to the 12th:
I'm hitting up Meteora! I've seen Meteora before but it wasn't until the school offered the sponsored trip that I suddenly became mystified. It looks unreal! So basically these Byzantine monks looked at these mountains and were like "Let's build a monastery on top of that thing." And so they did between the late 14th century and the 16th century. It's awesome. One of the monasteries was a location for the James Bond movie For Your Eyes Only and for Tintin and the Golden Fleece. It also inspired the setting for a Pokemon movie, a video game, and AND Game. Of. Thrones. The Eyrie of Vale of the House of Arryn was based off Meteora! I'm going to be looking around for Tyrion Lannister!

October 17th to the 19th:
The professors are bringing us kids to Delphi! I'm gonna holla at my boy, Apollo

November 4th to the 9th:
All it says on our travel calendar is "Peloponnese" so I have no clue where the professors are bringing us during that week. I hope we go to Sparta and Mycenae! I would kill to see the Tholos tomb and the famous lion gate. But who knows.

November 21st to the 30th:
Fall recess! I don't have any solidified plans yet because we're going to see if mom's schedule works out and she can visit me. How great would that be? If not, I have many other options. I could go to France and see Sara, or to Germany and see Julius, or to Italy and see Maria or Kaitlin or family, or any of the Greek islands - the possibilities are endless. But, if my uncle or professors suggest a must-go-to place or museum, I am going to dive into that headfirst! I'm almost too caught up in going to Greece that I can't think of anything but Greece!

So those are my plans so far! All the school sponsored events I'm going to go to for sure, but Oktoberfest, that one free weekend, and my fall break are open-ended. I'm hoping to go though! Let's just see how it all works out :) I'll be sure to keep you all updated on my experiences and with my pictures.

Just a few more days!
